Job description:
Ensure the reliability, safety, and compliance of production equipment (wet areas: canned sauces, pesto and glass jar sauces, liquid broth in tetrapack; dry areas: bouillon cubes, infusions, and soluble products) through an integrated maintenance strategy (corrective, preventive, and improvement) that increases asset availability, reduces downtime, enhances team skills, and enables the digital transformation of the function.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Strategy
- Define and implement the Preventive Maintenance Master Plan for wet & dry lines, packaging, and utilities (electricity, compressed air, steam, water, HVAC).
- Manage corrective and extraordinary maintenance events.
- Plan plant shutdowns and annual shutdowns in collaboration with other company functions.
Execution & Operational Continuity
- Ensure 24/7 coverage through shifts/on-call and Service Level Agreements for critical interventions.
- Guarantee execution of ordinary and/or extraordinary maintenance during production stops and/or non-production weekends.
- Define strategies and contracts for specialized external maintenance on high-tech production lines.
- Ensure full energy continuity of the plant.
- Guarantee maximum availability of general services supporting the production site.
Skills Development & Change Management
- Design and activate an upskilling plan for senior technicians (fault diagnostics, automation, use of digital tools).
- Help identify training gaps for operational teams (production, maintenance, quality) to build an integrated training plan.
- Mentor team leaders, manage resistance, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Digitalization & Data
- Implement/optimize the plant CMMS (master data, plans, history, spare parts, work orders).
- Measure and improve functional KPIs: OEE, MTTR, MTBF, availability, maintenance cost per line, energy cost per unit produced.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP standards.
- Support internal/external audits.
- Help minimize Non-Quality Costs.
- Perform Risk Assessment of operational assets.
- Apply HSE standards.
Economic & Supplier Management
- Direct responsibility for maintenance OpEx budget.
- Contribute to CapEx plan drafting.
- Lifecycle management of assets.
- Qualify and manage suppliers/contractors, negotiate service levels.
- Manage spare parts warehouse (stock optimization, A/B/C criticality).
Projects & Innovation
- Lead revamping/automation projects on wet/dry and packaging lines.
- Drive energy efficiency initiatives in collaboration with Engineering.
- Collaborate with Corporate functions to build the technology roadmap.
People & Generational Change
- Workforce planning: retirements, internal mobility.
- Succession planning and support for onboarding new resources (electrical/mechanical/automation).
- Promote a climate of psychological safety and accountability for results.
Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Automation, or Industrial with strong technical base).
- 8–10 years of experience in industrial maintenance, including 3–5 years in people management roles.
- Experience in food environments or with high quality and safety standards (HACCP/GMP).
- Experience in World Class Manufacturing contexts (or similar Operational Excellence programs).
- Expertise in continuous and packaging plants (wet & dry), utilities, and electrical/mechanical regulations.
- General knowledge of PLC/SCADA systems, sensors, fault diagnostics.
- Advanced use of CMMS and KPI analysis (OEE, MTTR, MTBF).
- Ability to manage senior teams, change management, and on-the-job training.
- Data-driven mindset and proficiency with digital tools (SAP, Office 365 suite, basic data analysis).
